MAFFUCCI
2019 Negroamaro

My Grandfather, Canio “Red” Maffucci, grew up as a young boy in New Rochelle, New York in the 1920s alongside his three brothers, Dominik, Donato and Pasquale. Affectionately known as the “Lafayette Gang”, Canio and his brothers ran the neighborhood streets causing mostly harmless chaos while each earning their nicknames and having the time of their lives. Canio Wines pays tribute to the Maffucci brothers and their curious nicknames, all of which appear on this label. Dominik “Six Second Smith”, Dan “Bill Hart” and Pat “Babe” Maffucci.

TASTING NOTES
This unique varietal known as Negroamaro is native to Puglia in southern Italy. This peninsula, which can be visualized as the “heel of the boot” of Italy, produces wines deep in color with aromas of bold black fruit flavors such as black cherry and plum. Negroamaro grown in the El Dorado AVA exhibit similar characteristics with the addition of earthy notes such as coffee, tobacco and dark chocolate. The perfect food-friendly wine that pairs well with a plate of good old-fashioned spaghetti and meatballs.
