SOTTOLUNA
2022 Barbera Reserve

Sottoluna, or “Sotto La Luna” in Italian, means under the moon. A full moon is believed to enhance wine quality, as its gravity pulls moisture and nutrients into the fruit, making it the peak time for harvesting grapes and racking wine to increase clarity. The “Harvest Moon” is the traditional name for the full moon that occurs closest to the autumnal equinox (the start of fall). This phase perfectly aligns with the crucial annual grape harvest, prompting many winemakers to pick their grapes in the early evening through the night.

TASTING NOTES:
Harvested under the crisp October sky, this bold yet velvety Barbera opens with an aromatic explosion of crushed red cherries and plums. The palate is defined by an incredibly juicy core of fruit, perfectly balanced by subtle American Oak, which softens the tannins for a long, smooth finish.
